Blog: Barrier Components 6 months on
An excellent example of a recently re-launched website built using CBJ's own non-technical Content Management System is the Barrier Components Ltd e-commerce website (http://www.barrier-components.co.uk/) which has enjoyed spectacular success in sales increase over previous years since the re-build towards the end of 2009.
This was due in no small part to the effective utilisation of search engine and people friendly navigation, a very efficient checkout procedure integrated into the site and ease of access to pdf catalogues and more technical data by visitors when required.
A non-technical member of senior management at Barrier keeps the site up to date. The underlying design 'look and feel' (but not the site structure or build) was, in this case, provided by Barrier's own design consultants. The requirement was for an attractive, easy to navigate, easy to purchases website that did not need internal technical support and that would pay for itself, have good visibility and ranking, had reliable support and could be developed further as and when required.. As well as all the conventional e-commerce features with comprehensive reporting, the site control system can (optionally) include selective HTML or plain text emailing (based on previous purchase patterns), special promotions (timed and by value or %age), full control over carriage costs (based on almost any variety of criteria), full reporting including affiliate link effectiveness, purchase on account or by payment card, notification of delivery despatch, emailed invoices, automatic local or third party despatch instruction and buyer notification, full reporting by product line, departmental- and manufacture-based selection, Google Analytics integration, tagging products (e.g. show all tables/chairs), presentation of alternative products, data sheet download, integrated image editing and presentation with optimisation, multi-size or multi-colour options (for example) on individual products (see an excellent example of this feature at http://www.hrhiggins.co.uk), address look up, fully styled integration with any selected payment gateway, optional news with automatic archiving, blogs, galleries, integration of video, intelligent (aided) search and many other useful features offering flexibility for your particular requirements. Most of these features are utilised by Barrier.
The site is remarkably easy to maintain and we would of course be delighted to demonstrate its real-life capabilities to anyone who is intersted.
